Helvetica

I really enjoyed the documentary about Helvetica. I already had some background on this topic from my graphic design class my junior year of high school. We did a typography project and I chose to research Arial, so a lot of the background information was about Helvetica. I already knew about how popular it became, and then how people eventually got sick of it. I don't think I knew why everyone really liked it though. It was really cool to hear their explanations of it. I find it interesting that all of those people had the same view of it. That's when you know something is really awesome.

I understood what they were talking about when they said they couldn't find any way to improve it, and that Arial was an inferior imitation. When I researched the typefaces, it went into a bit of detail about the differences between Helvetica and Arial, and how to tell them apart. We did learn all of the typography vocabulary though I can't remember it. Anyway, I can definitely see why Helvetica is significant when it comes to typeography, and I'm really glad I got to watch the documentary.
